Jean jackets are one of my favorite clothing items to wear and today I’m sharing with you four different ways that you can style a jean jacket!
First things first, the jean jacket. I own the jean jacket linked above and love it. Any jean jacket will do but if you are in the market for one, check this one out!
With Spring quickly approaching, how fun would it be to wear this orange shirt with the pretty detail on the bottom? The shirt would be cute on its own but if it is too cold, throw on the jean jacket for an extra layer and you can still see the pretty detail on the bottom. Win, win.
An easy way to dress up a jean jacket would be to add a statement necklace. I typically just wear a cotton long sleeve shirt underneath if I am styling my jean jacket this way.
Maybe it’s a little too chilly to go outside without a coat on but not warm enough to not wear a coat? Layer a flannel shirt with a jean jacket. I love how simple this flannel is but you could also add a more colorful / patterned flannel, if that aligns more with your style.
One of my favorite ways to wear a jean jacket is to layer it with a scarf. Pair it with some stud earrings and a messy bun and you’re good to go! Cozy, simple and perfect for cooler weather.
A lot of people ask if it is okay to wear a denim jean jacket with denim jeans. My opinion is yes, totally okay! I really like how it looks together but if you don’t like it, swap out the jeans with leggings, colored pants, etc. It is completely up to your preferences and what fits your style best. A rule of thumb that I typically use is to wear a darker denim jean with my light – medium wash jean jacket so that their is a contrast in the washes of the denim.
I hope that this post provides you with some new inspiration to style your jean jacket, especially with Spring right around the corner.

Today I’m sharing with you the second installment of the ‘beauty loves’ series. If you missed the first post check it out here. In this post series, I share a few of the beauty or beauty related products that I’m currently loving.
1. Essie Nail Polish in shade Chinchilly
Chinchilly is a great neutral colored nail polish. My nail polish doesn’t have to match my outfit but it really bothers me when it completely clashes. This color is great because it never clashes with my outfit and depending on what I’m wearing, a different undertone is brought out in the polish.
2. Hourglass Ambient Light Blush in shade Luminous Flush
This is a blush mixed with a highlighter that gives your face the prettiest soft and subtle glow. I love using this in the summertime but it also comes in handy during the dreary winter months to give your face something extra.
3. Revlon ColorBurst Balm Stain in shade Honey
I affectionately refer to this product as my ‘honey balm stain’. I don’t know how it started but my sister, mom and I all call it that. This is my all time favorite lip stick and I’m convinced that this shade looks great on everyone. The formula is great; it’s moisturizing, not too sticky / tacky and the color lasts a long time.
4. Ponds Makeup Remover Wipes
These makeup wipes are great for traveling or every day use. The evening soothe version of these wipes are my favorite, mainly because they smell amazing. Also, I love that they give me the ability to take my makeup off anywhere – watching a movie, in the car, etc.
5. Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo
I don’t wash my hair every day and this dry shampoo makes it possible. A lot of dry shampoos I have used in the past have left a lot of residue on my hair and have a very strong scent that ends up giving me a headache. This dry shampoo smells great, leaves no residue and my hair feels clean after using it.

This outfit is a great to wear in-between seasons when the temperature is shifting from warm to cold or cold to warm. You know, when it’s not quite cold enough for a coat or not quite warm enough not to wear a coat.
Vests are a great transition piece for these types of outfits. They are so versatile and can be mixed and matched with a lot of different outfits. Vests are perfect to wear with a scarf and some statement earrings, as shown above. You could also swap out the scarf with a statement necklace and dress up the look a little more. Either look would be great for shopping, running errands, exploring a new place, the list goes on!
I hope this outfit gives you some inspiration to create something similar from your own closet. If you don’t own a vest, I would highly recommend investing in one! The J Crew vests linked in the graphic above are my favorite. They aren’t too puffy, they’re warm and have good structure.
Do you own a vest? If so, what is your favorite way to style it?
When my sister told me that she was going to be living in Estes Park, CO for the summer, I immediately knew I had to visit! The only caveat was that I was getting married, going on a honeymoon AND starting a new job. I was really determined to still make it out there so Troy and I brainstormed and decided to go the weekend of July 4th.
I am so glad that we made it out to Colorado. It was so fun to see my sister, meet her friends and obviously take in all of the beauty that Colorado has to offer!
Troy and I at Bridal Veil Falls
Troy and I flew out Friday night after we both got off work and got there early Saturday morning. We got some rest and then hit the ground running. My sister had the weekend mapped out for us, which was really helpful. We were there for two and a half days and during that time we hiked 3 trails and even took a trip to Boulder.
Our first hike was to Bridal Veil Falls… it was so beautiful. We crossed over a river at the base of the falls to climb up further and I’m so glad we did because this was our view…
Em and I taking in the beauty at the top of Bridal Veil Falls
Our second hike was to Cub Lake. During the hike we encountered about 50 elk (and their babies!) no less than 25 feet away. Cub Lake was really pretty and as a bonus, it was covered in lily pads.

We went for a sunrise hike to Bible Point on Monday morning… it was absolutely breathtaking. We grabbed breakfast quick after and then headed to the airport to catch our flight back home.

A short but incredible weekend in the beautiful state of Colorado! I am so glad that we took this trip and thankful for the memories that we created.
I’m back today to continue on with my wedding post series. If you missed it, check out my post about getting ready here. I love reading/hearing about other people’s weddings so I thought it would be fun to share about ours.
Our wedding ceremony was outdoors and we could not have asked for a more perfect day! It was about 76 degrees, sunny, with a breeze. Keep in mind the day before was about 90 and extremely humid… gotta love Ohio!
It’s hard to choose a favorite part of our ceremony but having my dad walk me down the isle and seeing Troy waiting for me at the end… that is definitely up there! I love this picture of my dad and I, both beaming with a smile. My dad was so proud and excited… I love that this picture reflects the moment perfectly.
The pastor that officiated our wedding is a pastor at the church I went to all four years of college in Kent, h2o. Troy and I did premarital counseling with him and his wife. We are so thankful for the love and wisdom that they poured (and continue to pour) into our lives.
Troy and I choose to braid a cord of three strands during our ceremony. The primary concept of the cord is based on Ecclessiastes 4:12 “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” The purple cord represents the groom, the white cord represents the bride and the gold cord represents Christ. We braided them together to show that our marriage is not only between the two of us but intertwined with Christ at the center.
Our ceremony was so perfect! It was everything that I had hoped for and more!
Officially Mr. and Mrs. Troy Rufener!
In the coming weeks I will share about our reception and all of smaller details of our wedding – stay tuned!

The amount of days until Christmas are slowly decreasing… have you done your shopping yet? I had so much fun creating this little gift guide to provide you with some inspiration if you’re stumped on what to get someone.
Have a beauty loving friend/mom/sister? How fun would it be to receive this highlighter and this pretty brush? The shades in this eye shadow palette are all matte, versatile and stunning.
You can never go wrong with anything from Rifle Paper Company, in my opinion. I mean how beautiful is this calendar? And this art print? Ugh, I love everything they sell.
How fun would it be to receive a cast iron tea kettle? The one linked above is pretty pricey but I’ve seen quite a few similar options at T J Maxx for a fraction of the cost. This candle smells amazing; and how pretty is the container it comes in?
All of these gifts are great because you don’t even need to know the person’s size. I especially love all of these items because they are fun splurge that someone may not typically buy. I hope this can provide you with a few last minute ideas, in case you need them!
Do you typically procrastinate your Christmas shopping? Or do you try to get it done far in advance? I’m somewhere in the middle. 🙂 Let me know how you do your Christmas shopping in the comments below!

These are some of my favorite and most used beauty products that I use on a day-to-day basis. With that being said, I do tweak my eye shadow, blush and lipstick depending on the day but for the most part, this is what I wear most often.
I work in an office so I try to keep my makeup clean and neutral. The Tartelette Eye Shadow Palette is great for achieving looks that fit that criteria. All of the shades are matte, allowing me to create a relaxed yet professional look. The tagline for the IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream is “your skin but better” and it feels exactly like that; never sticky or heavy. No matter how much sleep I get, I have dark circles underneath my eyes. The IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer is great for concealing and brightening my under eyes. I use the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Pressed Powder to set the concealer underneath my eyes and anywhere else it feels necessary.
I love the Tarteist Contour Palette to add some definition to my face. This is a powder contour palette so the results are a lot less intense than a cream contour palette. Finally, I cannot say enough good things about the Revlon Color Stay Balm Stains. These are my absolute favorite because they are hydrating, have great color and last for a long time. My two favorite shades are Romantic (pictured above) and Honey.
It is important to me for my makeup to last all day and all of these products pass the test. If you have any other questions about any of these products, ask me in the comments below!
Do you use any of these makeup products currently? Are there any that you would like to try?
I hope I never forget the way I felt when I woke up the day of our wedding… extremely happy, excited and full of joy.
Troy gave me a note to read and gift to open the day of our wedding. I opened those and then the festivities began!
One of my best friends from high school, Andrea, did my hair and makeup for the wedding. It was so special to have her there to do it. She did my hair for various things through out high school before she was a trained pro. It only made sense for her to do it for my wedding day. 🙂
My dad arrived shortly after with Starbucks… basically all I wanted was a cup with bride written on it 🙂
My mom and I practiced putting on my dress a few days before the wedding. I am so glad that we did. It made putting the dress on the day of seamless.
I had the sweetest maid of honor and bridesmaids that went out of their way to make my day so special. It was seriously the best spending time with them getting ready and the moments leading up to the ceremony.
Stay tuned for the coming posts about our ceremony, reception and details!
One thing I love most about Ohio is getting to experience all four seasons. I love them all but Fall is by far my favorite. I love how things start to slow down, the weather gets cooler and I get to pull out all of my sweaters. Most of my wardrobe consists of what I would consider neutral basics. Neutral basics are items that don’t have a lot of color (white, black, gray, tan, navy). The items can have a pattern but the colors just need to be neutral. I love neutrals for three reasons: 1. I like being to mix and match different pieces and wearing them in a variety of ways 2. Neutrals make it easy to layer different pieces of my wardrobe when the weather starts to get cooler. 3. I can add color with different accessories (necklaces, earrings, scarves, etc.)

The months leading up to Troy and I’s wedding were really crazy. I was finishing up my degree at Kent State, while working as a resident assistant, completing an internship and finalizing details for our upcoming wedding. Troy was busy working full-time and remodeling a house for us to live in once we were married. Needless to say… we were really excited for our 10 day honeymoon in Punta Cana following our wedding!
Most days we spent poolside or on the beach…
Relaxing by the pool at our resort
We also went on two really fun excursions while we were in Punta Cana.
The Seaquarium excursion consisted of walking on the ocean floor called “snubing” (cross between scuba diving and snorkeling), swimming with sharks and stingrays, visiting the natural pool and getting kissed by a sea lion (ew, no thanks).
Snorkeling while on the Seaquarium excursion
The La Hacienda excursion consisted of traveling to the Dominican countryside, a horseback trail ride, buggy riding, swimming in a river and visiting a coffee & sugar cane plantation. This excursion was our favorite. I had never rode a horse before this so riding a horse on a 45 minute trail ride was quite an adventure for me but I loved it!
We had a really fun time traveling and relaxing together. However, after the 10 days were over, we were excited to get home and get settled in!
Have you ever been to Punta Cana? What did you think?
