Our Wedding: Getting Ready

I hope I never forget the way I felt when I woke up the day of our wedding… extremely happy, excited and full of joy.

Troy gave me a note to read and gift to open the day of our wedding. I opened those and then the festivities began!

One of my best friends from high school, Andrea, did my hair and makeup for the wedding. It was so special to have her there to do it. She did my hair for various things through out high school before she was a trained pro. It only made sense for her to do it for my wedding day. 🙂

My dad arrived shortly after with Starbucks… basically all I wanted was a cup with bride written on it 🙂

My mom and I practiced putting on my dress a few days before the wedding. I am so glad that we did. It made putting the dress on the day of seamless.

I had the sweetest maid of honor and bridesmaids that went out of their way to make my day so special. It was seriously the best spending time with them getting ready and the moments leading up to the ceremony.

Stay tuned for the coming posts about our ceremony, reception and details!

Neutral Basics

One thing I love most about Ohio is getting to experience all four seasons. I love them all but Fall is by far my favorite. I love how things start to slow down, the weather gets cooler and I get to pull out all of my sweaters. Most of my wardrobe consists of what I would consider neutral basics. Neutral basics are items that don’t have a lot of color (white, black, gray, tan, navy). The items can have a pattern but the colors just need to be neutral. I love neutrals for three reasons: 1. I like being to mix and match different pieces and wearing them in a variety of ways 2. Neutrals make it easy to layer different pieces of my wardrobe when the weather starts to get cooler. 3. I can add color with different accessories (necklaces, earrings, scarves, etc.)

Travel: Punta Cana

The months leading up to Troy and I’s wedding were really crazy. I was finishing up my degree at Kent State, while working as a resident assistant, completing an internship and finalizing details for our upcoming wedding. Troy was busy working full-time and remodeling a house for us to live in once we were married. Needless to say… we were really excited for our 10 day honeymoon in Punta Cana following our wedding!

Most days we spent poolside or on the beach…

Relaxing by the pool at our resort

We also went on two really fun excursions while we were in Punta Cana.

The Seaquarium excursion consisted of walking on the ocean floor called “snubing” (cross between scuba diving and snorkeling), swimming with sharks and stingrays, visiting the natural pool and getting kissed by a sea lion (ew, no thanks).

Snorkeling while on the Seaquarium excursion

The La Hacienda excursion consisted of traveling to the Dominican countryside, a horseback trail ride, buggy riding, swimming in a river and visiting a coffee & sugar cane plantation. This excursion was our favorite. I had never rode a horse before this so riding a horse on a 45 minute trail ride was quite an adventure for me but I loved it!

We had a really fun time traveling and relaxing together. However, after the 10 days were over, we were excited to get home and get settled in!

Have you ever been to Punta Cana? What did you think?

Beauty Loves Vol. 1

I love watching and/or reading makeup reviews on blogs or YouTube… Spending time in Ulta/Sephora… Talking to my friends about different makeup products their loving… or picking my makeup artist friends’ brain about what products she swears by.

I thought it would be fun to start a little post series where I share makeup products I’m currently loving.

1.  Tarte Cheek Stain in shade blissful

Not too heavy, easy to apply and a great natural flushed look without looking too put together.

2. NYX Highlighter

I’ve been really surprised by how much I’ve enjoyed this highlighter. There are many others to choose from but at this price point, I’m really impressed with the product! A great glow to finish off any makeup look.

3. IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream

A great everyday foundation. Light to medium coverage with a flawless finish. Not too matte but not too dewy. I would highly recommend this. Especially if you’re new to foundation or makeup in general.

4. Tarteist Contour Palette

The perfect contour palette. All matte, extremely pigmented, great coloring. I use this everyday to give my face a little more definition. I can’t say enough good things about it!

5. MAC Paint Pot in shade painterly

If you follow beauty, you know everyone raves about this product. The reviews are true, this stuff is amazing! I use it as an eye shadow base and my eye shadow lasts all day long.

What products are you currently loving?

Meet My Husband

rufener-176This is my husband, Troy.

Troy and I started dating on June 23, 2012. We got engaged on May 20, 2015. And then got married on June 12, 2016. All in all, it’s been the best 4 1/2 years of my life since Troy has been in it 🙂

I felt like an introduction was necessary because I’m sure you will be seeing him around this blog quite often 🙂

A few things about Troy…

  1. He is incredibly patient
  2. He dreams big and thinks without limits
  3. He loves Jesus with all he’s got
  4. He loves home renovation projects
  5. He has a servant heart that I admire a lot

New Beginnings

View More: http://sarverphotography.pass.us/troy--katieHello everyone! I started reading blogs about four years ago… and during that time I thought “I should start a blog”. Well, here I am finally getting around to doing so. I’m excited to start this journey and hope you enjoy following along.

My hope for this blog is for it to be a creative outlet for me to share my thoughts, projects, reviews, travels, etc. I work in an office 40 hours a week… I love my job but it will be fun to have another avenue to grow and stretch my creativity.

I thought I would start by sharing a little bit about myself…

  • I’m newly married to my husband Troy (pictured above), as of June 12, 2016.
  • I just graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Managerial Marketing.
  • I love all things beauty – reading/watching makeup reviews & tutorials, trying new hair and makeup products, new hair styles, etc.
  • I love clothes, shoes, accessories, basically… all things fashion.
  • I’m a Christian – I grew up in church my whole life but didn’t have a true relationship with Christ until my freshman year of college.
  • I love crafting and creating – I am the best version of myself when I’m creating.
  • My husband and I just completed the majority of a 1960’s ranch home renovation.
  • I love Ohio – the seasons, the people, everything… it will always be home.

That’s all about me… now I’d love for you to tell me a few things about you 🙂

Thanks for stopping by!
